Stevie Wonder – “You Met Your Match” Transcription

For all you Jamerson aficionados out there — if you do not own Stevie Wonder’s For Once In My Life LP, you have been missing out. The Funks were Little Wonder’s music tutors and some of the hippest tracks they ever cut were on his mid to late 60s records. UptightI Was Made To Love Her, My Cherie Amour, Eivets Rednow (Stevie Wonder spelled backwards) are must have albums. “You Met Your Match” is a classic example of Jamerson’s “bounce” style. Quick shifts in melodic contour, pedal-point raking, and highly developed syncopation — a style of playing that has yet to be matched.
